Buku yang bagus dan bisa jadi guide tidak resmi bagi yang senang bepergian dan akan pergi ke luar negri. bahasanya ringan dan kocak. selalu menemukan sisi lain yang menarik dari suatu tempat..bisa hal yang lucu, menjijikkan, menyenangkan, serem..semuanya.

IMHO, Naked Traveler ini memang bukan buat panduan jalan-jalan, lha wong memang berasal dari jurnal pribadi. jadi ngga heran kalau banyak pengalaman personal dilihat dari kacamata Trinity.

Menurutku asik-asik aja baca buku ini, (one of my fave, actually) karena tiap orang mengalami pengalaman dan punya kesan yang berbeda di tiap perjalanan liburannya. Buatku yang jarang jalan-jalan buku ini jadi menyenangkan, serasa mendengarkan teman/sodara pulang bepergian..

Sayang ngga sempat nonton Empat Mata, jadi aku ngga bisa lihat orangnya kayak apa. Kayaknya sih emang cuek banget ya, kalau dari yang kubaca di buku.

Trinity nama samarannya. Cewek ini backpaker asal Indonesia yang udah melanglangbuana dan mendokumentasikan perjalanannya dalam bentuk catatan. Menarik sekali isinya. Lugas, kocak, apa adanya.

Sayang, dengar-dengar dari bukunya yang udah terbit ada kena sensor. Penasaran, kan? :)

Karena kangen makanan Jerman (hahaha..apa sih), dan tergiur oleh cerita teman-temanku, akhirnya aku dan Oscar nyobain ke restoran unik ini yang baru buka lagi di Kelapa Gading tgl.13 Juni kemarin.

Pertama kali masuk kerasa banget kalau pemilik tempat makan ini komunikatif dengan pelanggan maupun pengunjungnya. Meski ngga bertemu langsung, ada pesan tertulis di meja, bunyinya permintaan maklum karena sebagai toko yang baru buka kembali mungkin ada beberapa menu yang belum tersedia. "It's been a lot easier to said than done"..gitu katanya, hehe..Bisa aja.

Nyobain sosis Farmwurst (beef tentunya) yang ukurannya besar dan enak banget pake mashed potato..Baru pesan itu aja kenyang sekali rasanya! Oscar pesan fish and chip kemarin,.harganya memang murah, dengan cuma 80 ribuan makan berdua, kualitas prima pula.

Kapan-kapan kalau gitu aku mau cobain the award-winning Beef Stroganoff-nya, goulash-nya, roasted chicken, steak tartar-nya..banyak deh! Hihihi!

Baru tahu kalau co-owner chef-nya orang Swiss-German. Makanya kalau mau reserve place atau roasted chicken, sms with English only to 0811982587.

I love this movie. The casts are perfect. The plot is beautiful yet simple. It is like a good reminder for us about life and tragedy, and a good portrait on how a father is trying hard to build communication to his children.

I remember Kramer vs Kramer, the same situation here when a father learning how to cope with fatherhood. But this movie is different, maybe because the husband lost his wife, and the focus are not on the abandoned housechores (in fact, Cusacks house in this movie is quite tidier than Kramer's) but on communication.

Cusack (the father) is brilliant, he show the best performance as a heartbroken husband who lost his wife. I also adore the funny lil girl Gracie Bednarczyk (Dawn Phillips), and the serious but thoughtful daughter Shélan O'Keefe (as Heidi Phillips) reminds me of my niece, Chanti.

The music in the film received two Golden Globe nominations by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the 65th Golden Globe Awards. Clint Eastwood was nominated for Best Original Score, while the song "Grace is Gone" with music by Eastwood and lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager was nominated for Best Original Song. It won the Satellite Award for Best Song at the 12th Satellite Awards.

Atonement is a 2007 British film directed by Joe Wright. Frankly speaking, I bought the movie for fashion reference, let's say 40's style,since my husband and me are planning to have a private project: family photo in 40's style :)

But along Caecilia's wardrobes, I also got stunned with the whole story. I love this movie! The plot is so entertaining, the strong character building for Saoirse Ronan as Briony Tallis (she is better than Knightley, I promise you! And nominated for the best supporting actress!)..and I love the surprising ending :)

Buku ini sebetulnya manis sekali. Aku jatuh cinta ama buku ini pas membaca sinopsis di sampul belakangnya, tentang kematian di mata anak kecil penderita leukemia. Siapa bilang kematian itu mengerikan? Siapa tahu malah asyik, dan seru?

Seperti komentar Granny di buku ini," ..Kematian itu seperti ulat dalam kepompong. Kalau takut keluar dari kepompong, kapan bisa berubah jadi kupu-lupu yang cantik?"

Mungkin kalau lihat versi aslinya lebih jatuh cinta lagi (karena sampul terbitan GPU ngga cukup menggambarkan kisah tentang Sam dan kematian).

Penasaran aja ama jalan ceritanya, karena kebetulan beberapa hari terakhir ini aku membaca banyak obituari, dan konsep kematian bagi anak kecil adalah sesuatu yang hampir tidak pernah diangkat di buku (setidaknya aku baru baca yang ini).

Tutur cerita dan penggambaran karakater Sam begitu mengalir. Ada beberapa adegan yang bagiku sangat personal dan digambarkan begitu indahnya. Saat tokoh Dad -sang Ayah- yang selama ini dingin dan apatis (karena dia sendiri sebetulnya selalu menyangkal akan kesehatan Sam yang memburuk) menajdi ayah yang begitu hangat dan penuh kasih sayang ketika mendampingi Sam tertidur. Aku jadi inget waktu aku masih kecil terserang asthma yang cukup berat dan bikin tidak bisa tidur..Papa bangun dan menjagaku :'(

Film yang tidak biasa. Different, but yet interesting. Meski beberapa adegan menurutku terlalu berlebihan: narasi (masa' sih ada anak cewek 16 tahun bisa berpikiran diluar batas kewajaran untuk remaja seusianya), jalan cerita yang rada ngga masuk akal, dan penyelesaian masalah yang begitu sederhana mungkin adalah beberapa bagian yang mengganggu dari film ini.

Film ini menarik, karena cukup berani mengangkat isu kehamilan remaja di luar nikah. Bukan isu yang baru, tapi tetap aja akan janggal kalau cerita soal Juni bisa terjadi di Indonesia. Di kita pasti Juno udah dikeluarkan dari sekolah, tidak seperti di film itu yang bebas berkeliaran di sekolah dengan perut yang semakin membuncit. Tidakmungkin pula rasanya ada orangtua seperti ortu Juno yang begitu berpikiran terbuka dan lapang dada melihat anak gadis mereka hamil dan memutuskan sendiri apa yang akan ia lakukan pada bayinya. Di Indonesia yang ada gadis itu pasti dikucilkan, dan buru-buru aborsi. Hukuman yang diberikan juga bukan cuma dikucilkan, tapi stigma.

Aku agak kecewa ama penyelesaian masalah di film ini. Rada dipaksakan. So unreal.

Game ini asik, bisa ditinggal selama tetep online. hehee..jadi di kantor bisa nih maen ini!

I bought this book for my Dad's bday present, since he is Barrack Obama fan :)
I think this book is beautifully written, and show us the answer of identity, class and race.

In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a black African father and a white American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father—a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man—has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey—first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family, confronts the bitter truth of his father’s life, and at last reconciles his divided inheritance.

This dining place decorated like Indonesian traditional house, with wooden table & desk, open air, very romantic atmosphere.

Offering authentic Indonesian cuisine, Payon, which means “shade” in Sanskrit, provides mostly traditional Central Java and East Java dishes. They are quite pricey but I think its worthed.

Buat lidahku yang selera melayu (baca: terbiasa dengan masakan spicy dan asin) makanannya di Payon sih kurang enak, mungkin karena udah disesuaikan dengan lidah bule. Dan jangan coba-coba pesan menu Nasi Cobek kalau ngga tahan pedas, karena ditanggung perut langsung terasa panas..hehhee..

This is my student's favourite book. Mereka selalu ingin mencoba melukis dengan pemandangan indah seperti yang ada di buku ini.

Tema yang diangkat buku ilustrasi ini sama: mercu suar, hanya ditampilkan dalam lokasi dan suasana berbeda. Ada yang dalam suasana badai, ada yang di pagi hari, ada yang pas sunset..Semuanya indah!

Syukur kalau kalian bukan termasuk orang yang suka mengumpat dan obral kata-kata kasar di depan umum, ya. Meski sangat manusiawi kalau sedang sangat kesal akhirnya keluar juga kata-kata indah yang hanya pantas menghuni kebun binatang atau toilet..

Tapi buku ini menarik, karena si penulis mengupas bahasa umpatan manusia ini dengan pendekatan dari segi etymology (studi tentang sumber dan pengembangan bentuk kata-kata), budaya dan sosiologi. Melalui serangkaian riset, ibu ini dengan cara menarik, misalnya kenapa untuk jenis umpatan tertentu buat kalangan teman sendiri ngga jadi masalah besar sementara kalau ditujukan pada orang lain bisa menimbulkan bencana.

Meski kalau kemudian cinta itu hadir, penonton dibiarkan menebak kelanjutan cerita mereka. Film musikal ini indah dan manis sekali menggambarkan persahabatan Guy dan Girl (memang tanpa nama), yang dipertemukan secara tidak sengaja oleh nasib. Guy si pemusik jalanan dan Girl si penjual bunga ternyata bisa langsung ngobrol dan merasa dekat satu sama lain hingga berhasil bikin album musik bersama-sama.

Aku suka lagu-lagunya. Terutama pas adegan jam session Girl (Markéta Irglová) main piano dan Guy (Glen Hansard) maen gitar di sebuah toko musik. Sekilas mirip ama film Music and Lyrics, tapi berbeda dalam alur cerita.
Aku suka film ini karena ngga mellow dan sentimental.

Aku belum nonton film ini, tapi berniat nonton at least punya DVD-nya :)
Soalnya film ini kocak banget, menceritakan kehebohan bikin film dadakan hanya karena sebuah kesalahan fatal.

Sebut saja Jerry dan Mike yang terpaksa harus menutupi kesalahan mereka. Gara-gara Jerry menghapus isi video tape dari toko rental video tempat Mike bekerja. Maka timbullah rencana untuk re-make tiap video yang film-nya terhapus. Kebayang betapa mereka kalang kabut bukan kepalang mengulang tiap film yang hilang dengan film versi mereka yang serba darurat: peralatan sederhana, dialog film seadanya, dan pemeran yang itu-itu lagi..Tapi mungkin di sini letak lucunya..

Jadi ga sabar pengen nonton!
